Redmond flew to Buenos Aires in Argentina late last year to take part in the world’s silliest winter sports-based game show.

Presented by Richard Hammond and Amanda Byram, the show saw 10 celebrities put through their paces in the fight to be crowned Winter Wipeout Celebrity Champion 2012, netting £10,000 for their chosen charity.

Redmond was in action against a host of celebs including boy-band star Tony Mortimer of E17 fame, songbird Connie Fisher and fellow Olympic hero Eddie the Eagle Edwards.

Derek admits it was a fun experience. “It was mad, I really enjoyed going out there for the filming,” he said.

“I thought it was going to be an easy bit of fun but it was hard work – it’s certainly not a course for the faint-hearted!”
